Algeciras & Gibraltar
Where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. We arrange bunkers, product storage and inspection on both sides of the Bay of Algeciras.

Every ship moving between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean passes the Strait of Gibraltar. The Bay of Algeciras serves that traffic from two ports under two jurisdictions: the Spanish port of Algeciras and Gibraltar across the bay. Together they form one of Europe's largest bunkering clusters.
Moeve's San Roque refinery supplies the bay, and independent terminals such as Evos Algeciras store fuel oil, gasoil and products. Algeciras is also Europe's third-largest LNG bunkering port. We arrange bunker supply, storage and inspection, and we check which jurisdiction applies before each operation.
Two ports on one bay
Algeciras falls under the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras and Spanish law, while Gibraltar is a separate jurisdiction under the Gibraltar Port Authority. Each has its own licensing for bunker suppliers, anchorages and reporting. Gibraltar recorded 5,267 bunkering calls in 2025.
What we arrange on the bay
The refinery anchorage takes tankers up to 350,000 deadweight tonnes, while terminal berths are smaller. Evos Algeciras has a jetty for vessels up to 225,000 deadweight tonnes.
- Bunker supply of VLSFO, HSFO, MGO and LNG
- Product storage in independent terminals
- Transshipment between Atlantic and Mediterranean cargoes
- Independent bunker and cargo inspection
- Tracking of transits through the Strait
Frequently asked questions
Is Algeciras the same jurisdiction as Gibraltar?
No. They share the bay but are separate ports with separate authorities and rules.
Is LNG bunkering available?
Yes. Algeciras supplied about 150,000 tonnes of LNG in 2025 through ship-to-ship operations.
Can large tankers call there?
Tankers up to 350,000 deadweight tonnes can use the refinery anchorage. Berth limits are lower.
