Trieste (TAL)
The Mediterranean's crude gateway to Central Europe. We arrange tanker freight, discharge at the SIOT terminal and transit through the Transalpine Pipeline.

Landlocked refineries in Austria, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and the Czech Republic depend on crude landed at Trieste. The Transalpine Pipeline (TAL) runs 753 kilometres from the SIOT marine terminal over the Alps, and moved 41.6 million tonnes of crude in 2025.
The TAL+ upgrade, completed in April 2025, allows up to 8 million tonnes a year to reach Czech refineries, letting the country run fully on non-Russian crude. We fix tanker freight to Trieste, coordinate discharge and pipeline scheduling, and appoint inspectors at the terminal.
From the Adriatic over the Alps
SIOT, the Italian arm of the TAL Group, operates the marine terminal and the tank farm at San Dorligo della Valle. Jetty 1 can now berth Suezmax tankers. Crude delivered here is usually priced off Mediterranean benchmarks linked to Dated Brent.
| Destination | Route |
|---|---|
| Austria | TAL to Schwechat via the AWP branch |
| Bavaria | TAL main line to Ingolstadt |
| Baden-Württemberg | TAL to Karlsruhe |
| Czech Republic | TAL to Ingolstadt, then the IKL pipeline |
