Ceyhan, on Türkiye's Mediterranean coast, is where two major crude pipelines reach the sea. The Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline (BTC) brings Azeri crude and Kazakh volumes, and the Iraq–Türkiye pipeline brings crude from northern Iraq. Flows on the Iraqi line restarted in September 2025 after a halt that began in 2023.
Because Ceyhan does not depend on the Strait of Hormuz, it has drawn more attention since 2026. We fix tankers for Ceyhan loadings, coordinate with the terminal, and appoint inspectors for quantity and quality at the jetty.
The BTC terminal
The Haydar Aliyev terminal at Ceyhan has seven tanks of one million barrels each and a 2.6-kilometre jetty with two berths for tankers up to 300,000 deadweight tonnes. It is operated by BOTAŞ International. Platts assesses Azeri Light FOB Ceyhan.
