Lake Charles

Refining and LNG on the Calcasieu Ship Channel. We arrange product freight, storage and inspection at Lake Charles.

Refinery and LNG tanks along a narrow ship channel through marshland

The Calcasieu Ship Channel runs 34 miles from Lake Charles to the Gulf of Mexico. It serves large refineries run by Citgo and Phillips 66 and a growing group of LNG export plants near its mouth in Cameron Parish.

The channel silts up quickly, so usable draft depends on maintenance dredging. We plan freight around current draft, source storage and appoint inspectors.

Working with a shoaling channel

The authorized depth is 40 feet, but shoaling means actual draft can be lower between dredging campaigns. We check the latest Army Corps of Engineers survey before fixing a vessel.

What we arrange

Refineries on the channel include Citgo Lake Charles, Phillips 66 Westlake and Calcasieu Refining. The port is run by the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District.

  • Product freight from Lake Charles refineries
  • Crude freight sized to current draft
  • Storage sourcing
  • Independent inspection at each transfer
